Competition «Horizon-2100»'23 - RESULTS

The main purpose of the Competition is to motivate thinking youth from different countries with an active lifestyle to carry out a creative search for scientific, scientific-practical ideas, hypotheses, and sci-fi ideas about the distant future; identify the best gifted and active young people who are passionate and capable of scientific creativity, analysis and forecasting of the future.

ABOUT THE CONTEST

Horizon 2100’23 International Youth Competition is a competition of scientific and science fiction works in which young people aged 16 to 30 of any nationality, ethnic group and people from different countries present their vision of the future at the turn of 2100. The competition has been held since 2019 and during this time has involved more than 2,100 smart creative young people from 69 countries who are passionate about the future. In general, including experts and participants in forums and various sessions, the project has reached more than 2,750 people from 92 countries.

The choice of the horizon of research, study, modeling and management of the future at the level of 2100 is not accidental. The youth, being the main generator of change, in itself represents the foreseeable future and it is they who will have to form the subsequent scenarios for its development.

The competition was announced on August 1. The results were summed up on December 18.

This year, the organization's website, in particular, in the section about the competition, was visited by 53,491 people. Of these: Russia – 35,162 visitors, other countries: 18,329 visitors.

Moreover, the visitors were from 134 countries of the world.

The working languages of the Project are Russian, English, Spanish, French, Chinese and Arabic.

NOMINATIONS OF THE HORIZON 2100 COMPETITION '23

For the best scientific work - an article, research, scientific and practical work - reflecting innovative and original ideas, scientific vision about the future of the planet and humanity at the turn of 2100,

For the best Sci-Fi work - a story, an essay, a report - describing imaginary innovative and original ideas, fantastic events, phenomena and prospects for the future at the turn of 2100, giving them a scientific explanation,



Including, offering ideas and solutions for strategic planning and management of the future, aimed at creating prerequisites and mechanisms for strengthening the resilience of mankind to possible challenges and shaping a future in which the authors of the works would like to live themselves, and which, in their opinion, will be fair to future generations.

DIRECTIONS AND TOPICS

Competition is carried out according to the following profile directions:

COMPETITION RESULTS

A total of 661 people have registered to participate in the competition - schoolchildren, students and young people from 65 countries, including Russia: from 44 regions.

Among them are 54 participants of previous years, the total number of works (including co-authorship) is 372:

- 189 works - for the nomination Scientific vision of the future at the turn of 2100;
- 183 works - science fiction works about the future at the turn of 2100.

271 works were accepted for the competition. The rest of the works were not admitted to the competition due to non-compliance with the goals and themes of the competition or the rules for submitting an application, as well as the presence of plagiarism.

In 2023, representatives of 69 countries took part in the HORIZON 2100 project as project participants, experts, jury members and organizers.

Participants from Russia are representatives of 44 regions.

The works accepted for the competition were divided into specialized areas as follows:

• Future of the Global World – 27 artworks
• Future of Science - 30 papers
• Future of Technology - 58 artworks
• Future of the World Economy - 12 papers
• Future of the Environment and Sustainable Development - 36 artworks
• Energy of the Future - 17 works
• Future of the Human Habitat Environment - 40 artworks
• Intellect and Mind – 21 works.

The average age of the participants was 20 years. Among the participants who submitted the largest number of works are 20 years old.
