In 1983, he graduated from the History Department of Moscow State University and entered the graduate school of the Institute of the USA and Canada. From November 1986 to the present, he has been a researcher at ISKRAN. Since 2004, he has been the head of the Center for Regional Aspects of U.S. Military Policy.
Batyuk's research interests include relations between the United States, Europe and Russia in the field of security, the history of the Cold War, and the system of international relations. In 1987, V.I. Batyuk defended his PhD thesis, and in 2008 – his doctoral dissertation. Batyuk V.I. has repeatedly participated in a number of international conferences that have been held in recent years at the Institute of the USA and Canada of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
