I am Zhang Yue, a college student from China.As a long-time enthusiast of science fiction,I have always been captivated by the power of storytelling, which can ignite the imagination and provoke thought.

In this narrative, with the rapid development of technology in 2100, people's lives underwent tremendous changes. However, due to a country discharging nuclear wastewater into the ocean, it destroys the marine environment, even the living environment of humans.The environmental rescue team, commissioned by the Earth Environment Administration, collaborated with other experts to save the ocean, and ultimately the ocean returned to its original sapphire like appearance. Finally people have lived a happy life.

The origin of this story can be traced back to my attention to the nuclear-contaminated wastewater discharge incident.As I delved deeper into the field of science,I found myself pondering the potential impact of this event on the ocean, even humans, and their habitats.The desire to explore these ideas and share them with readers has propelled me on this creative journey.

The ground lay silent, devoid of its once exuberant life and seemed bereft of vitality. Occasionally a couple of crows flew over the sky. Their cries resembling the sound of a funeral bell, tragic and desolate, lingering over the city.

This is City B, the busiest metropolis in Country C, which enjoys the glorious title of "World Capital" all over the world.Advancements in science have facilitated the use of air sports cars by the populace, allowing for transportation both on land, through water, and even in the air. Virtually every building on the street is adorned with numerous digital screens which serve the dual purpose of disseminating information and absorbing ultraviolet rays and ground radiation. Also the nearby air filtration system effectively eliminates harmful particles from the atmosphere.High-rise buildings filled with a sense of technology and futuristic elements have sprung up like bamboo shoots after rain, and neon lights gradually brighten up the city as the night approaches casting a luminous glow over the entire city.People wearing radiation-protective clothing in the lamplight can only enjoy their time under the protective clothing when going out.

At the same time the Environmental Rescue Team commissioned by the General Administration of the Earth Environment is piloting a patrol  ——a lightweight spacecraft designed to patrol the Earth's environment over the ocean and hurriedly heading towards the direction of the General Administration of the Earth Environment.They are required to participate in an urgent conference that concerns people's future lives and living environment.

Looking out from the windows of the Patrol spacecraft from afar the ocean below looks blurry from top to bottom. It is not difficult to see that it is surrounded by a dead silence.A lifeless sea floating with the bodies of countless marine creatures.These seas have become cemeteries for marine creatures without standing tombstones. Countless corpses of creatures float with the waves waiting for the decomposers to decompose. However there are too many dead creatures.Though the microorganisms as decomposers work day and night, they are still unable to decompose all of these corpses.In addition to the decomposition of decomposers, there are also professional marine organism corpse handlers hired by the environmental protection organisation of country C who drive ships with extremely strong corrosion resistance every day to salvage these corpses and ultimately use special treatment methods to reduce the possibility of polluting the environment and damaging people's health.

Every time the team members pass over the ocean, except for endless sighs, they strengthen their determination to defend the global environment.

The spaceship circled over an ocean and finally landed on the apron of the tallest building which is approximately in the shape of Earth and labeled with the words ’environmental protection' in B city.The team members quickly got off the elevator and walked towards the reserved meeting room in the notice.Representatives from various national environmental protection organisations participated in the meeting.Due to global environmental issues representatives of environmental protection organisations from various countries have gathered together.

At the meeting the Director of the General Administration of the Earth Environment objectively stated to the team the current environmental conditions of the Earth, especially the long-standing marine problems caused by the discharge of nuclear-contaminated water. The GIFs under the virtual projector were shocking, making people's hearts couldn't help but feel stunning.

This scene seems to echo the mournful cries of crows every evening.

Human beings, do not ask for whom the knell tolls, it tolls for you.

Nowadays, the global environmental situation is extremely poor. There is no time for people to delay action. It is now 2100 AD, and the clean and soft beach has turned into a beach emitting the smell of rotting corpses.The originally golden sand has turned into black sand, mixed with the bones exposed by marine organisms after decay.The blue sea, which used to be like a sapphire has transformed into a lifeless black sea filled with garbage and corpses of marine organisms.And seaweed plants grow crazily until they are filled with the sea.The sea is like stagnant water that cannot raise waves.

With the discharge of the nuclear-contaminated water into the sea, harmful radioactive substances enter the sea accompanied by ocean currents and other ocean movements.After a series of water circulations, not only marine organisms but also all organisms on Earth have been eroded and polluted by radioactive substances, and most marine organisms have undergone mutations.Under the cruel control of the law of nature "survival of the fittest in natural selection" and the law of the jungle are the eternal magical laws. Through mutation organisms that adapted to the changed marine environment survived, even though their appearance was very strange, like big-head fish, abnormally large seahorses, turtles with deformed eyes, and many other mutated marine organisms. Fortunately there are still marine creatures living in this sea which has caused countless creatures to despair.

The sea is no longer the sea, but the source of tragedy.

After a series of water exchange circulations whenever it rains the rainwater carries a certain degree of radiation. And when the rainwater falls on the human skin, the skin will come into contact with nuclear elements.Radioactive elements iodine 129 and strontium 90 are more easily absorbed by seafloor sediments and marine organisms and are highly susceptible to cellular damage and genetic mutations.After the food chain cycle, they accumulate in fish bodies.

Due to the Biomagnification of the food chain these elements are deposited in aquatic products, and humans are at the top of the food chain and feed on aquatic products.Elements are deposited in the human body through the food chain thereby directly affecting humans.

Another part will gradually deposit in the ocean, and may even form high-concentration aggregates in specific areas through natural circulation becoming a long-term hazard that may pose serious harm to human health.

The darkness of the night gradually subsided, and the dawn light gently spread across the horizon towards the earth.It is a new day. Victory organised a meeting, which was closely related to the action process.

The first action is to meet with the dispatched experts. The team members dressed up and officially embarked on a journey to complete the tasks assigned by the General Administration of the Earth Environment. Meanwhile, experts on the other side specialising in environmental science and ecology also began to prepare the materials needed for the meeting, as well as the instruments, equipment, and facilities needed to detect and detect the specific conditions of the sea. Of course, the most important thing is to do a good job of self-protection.

As nuclear-contaminated water is discharged into the ocean, it carries radioactive substances and undergoes fusion and exchange with the ocean, so reciprocating that both humans and surrounding organisms are affected by nuclear radiation. Many marine organisms have undergone mutations due to radiation, and people who originally lived nearby have also undergone physical changes due to radiation, resulting in poor physical fitness, continuous illness, and even death. Whether it's on television, paperless newspapers, or virtual screens on the streets, you can see the number of people who get sick from nuclear radiation every day. Some people have leukaemia, some have cancer......

It is a pity that whether it was in 2001 or 2100 now, cancer cannot be completely eradicated. And cancer patients have to live in fear for their lives every day. Therefore, out of consideration for the people's health, many residents have moved out of this place under the organisation of the government. This place is also isolated by multiple protective barriers established by the government, and ordinary people are not allowed to approach it. There are also unmanned aerial vehicles responsible for patrolling every corner every day to ensure that no unruly people are passing through.

Experts wear radiation-resistant isolation suits and masks that filter contaminated air to obtain fresh and non-toxic air for breathing. They were fully armed, carrying orders from their superiors and the determination to be responsible for the people, and set off on the AIR autonomous aircraft to meet with the environmental rescue team at PAC Ocean, which was most severely affected by nuclear-contaminated water. With the speed of the AIR autonomous aircraft approaching the speed of light, the experts quickly arrived at PAC Ocean. Not surprisingly, the environmental rescue team has been waiting for a long time on the beach next to PAC Ocean. Then both parties finished greeting, they officially began their work.

Experts first collect some sand samples from the beach closest to the ocean and then use radiometric instruments to measure the content of radioactive nuclides in the samples. Also, the strangely shaped marine creatures make people feel like they are in an era of biochemical crisis, constantly experiencing the emergence of monsters. These marine creatures are both frightening and awe-inspiring! How tenacious their vitality must be!Engaging in a battle of the jungle under the influence of pollutants and natural laws, ultimately achieving victory and surviving. Seaweed is growing crazily, almost covering the sea surface, making the environmental conditions of the sea look even worse.

These team members stood by the sea listening to the mournful cries of the ocean. The sea is crying, the world is moaning.

Luckily, the experts also completed the collection and upload of data samples while the members of the environmental rescue team who went out for inspection also came to the experts. At this moment, everyone gathered together.

The leading expert cleared his throat and said, "We have collected and uploaded data samples. But we must go back to the research institute for further analysis to give you more accurate information."

Victory nodded and said, "Okay! Thank you for your efforts. "

After saying that, they flew towards their respective seats and sat down, pressing a few times on the virtual keyboard beside them, turning the seats into personal flying machines. They sit inside the personal aircraft, input corresponding instructions, and each personal aircraft is first transported from inside the spacecraft to outside the spacecraft by the inspection spacecraft. Then, according to the set instructions, each team member is sent to their destination. He approached the child with firm steps and a warm smile. For Jim, he threw himself into his father's arms, tears and laughter intertwined. He felt his father's warmth and love as if all loneliness and longing had dissipated in this moment. Victory pat Jim’s back and brought him home.

During Victory's days off, he has been living a relaxed life every day, seizing every opportunity to spend time with his family.

One day, while Victory was playing with his son Jim's building blocks, Jim pointed to his picture of diving in the ocean and asked him, "Dad,  when will I see the blue ocean you're talking about the sea as beautiful as sapphire?"

Victory was speechless for a moment, After a moment of silence, he said, "I am working with other uncles to solve this problem. We will do our best to show you and the other children the beautiful sea like sapphire!"

Jim clapped after hearing his dad’s words, “ Great! Dad. I can't wait to play with the little animals in the sea! "Said Jim happily.

Good times are always fleeting, and soon it's time to gather. Victory's family hugged him while urging him to take good care of himself. Then, Victory turned to squat down and said to his son, "Jim, Dad is going to work! Other uncles and I will do our best to show you a clean and beautiful sea where you can play heartily, such as catching fish, shrimp, and crabs, and building castles on the beach. Slowly, everyone finally arrived. They first held a meeting in the conference room and then used the further data analysis report issued by the expert team as the center of the discussion. They first had a video conference with the experts, listened to their detailed explanations, and then raised their questions to the experts. Through the patient answers of the experts, the Environmental Rescue Team has almost 100% understanding of the situation and has agreed with the experts to meet tomorrow at the General Administration of the Earth Environment for further discussion. After a rich and delicious dinner, everyone gathered together and went to the gym for physical fitness training ，preparing for the next work. Gradually, it was getting late at night, and the team members were going to sleep. Some team members had just fallen asleep when they were lying in bed, while others were still tossing and turning, unable to sleep. However, in the end, they fell asleep due to the powerful sleep function of the bed.

The next day, everyone finished washing up before embarking on a new journey. Today, they need to leave for the experts' laboratory to discuss with them how to solve the marine pollution problem caused by nuclear-contaminated water discharge into the sea.

Since ancient times, there has been a solution to nuclear-contaminated water. The most serious nuclear power accident in history, as well as the first major seventh-level nuclear accident - an explosion at Chernobyl in the Soviet Union that resulted in a nuclear leak. Fortunately, the government has taken emergency measures and mobilised 600000 people to participate in firefighting, cleaning, sealing, and evacuation work. Many of these people are professionals such as firefighters, miners, soldiers, scientists, engineers, etc. In this invisible war, people from all walks of life worked tirelessly to build a concrete protective cover weighing 400000 tons. And send troops to guard day and night, and nuclear power experts check the situation near the nuclear power plant and the nuclear fuel situation every three to five times. They risked extremely high radiation risks and protected the country from greater harm to their own lives and health.

On the contrary, in other countries, the treatment of nuclear-contaminated water is not the only option for "ocean discharge". A certain country has selfishly chosen the "ocean discharge" with the lowest economic cost, using the lives and health of humans and other organisms to protect itself. This has also led to the current situation where the sea is crying and the world is moaning.

At this moment, the submarine was also waiting on the sea surface. Victory entered the submarine from the surface of the water. Firstly, he enters a closed space, where the machine absorbs the radiation attached to his body and the radiation from the outside of the seawater sample bottle, and places the seawater sample in a specially designed box. After removing the radiation and placing the seawater sample, he took off his diving suit to meet with the team members.

Due to time constraints, they constantly need to go to the next place rich in tritium to collect water samples near the tritium element. Repeat this process until the samples of several major radioactive elements have been collected.

At this point, it was already late at night. Although everyone is too sleepy to open their eyes, it is still necessary to send the samples to the researchers for conducting research. After sending the samples, everyone fell asleep sitting in their seats.

However, in addition to dealing with radiation and heavy metal issues in nuclear-contaminated wastewater, there are a great number of problems of marine environmental pollution that need to be dealt with. For example, the death of a large number of marine organisms, red tide phenomena, and garbage pollution.When experts develop and cultivate super bacteria, the Environmental Rescue Team also needs to address other marine environmental pollution issues.

In the following days the Environmental Rescue Team led a busy life. After comprehensive consideration they decided to use the method of injecting microorganisms to control the growth of red tide.At the same time there are robots in the ocean salvaging garbage and biological corpses The salvaged garbage first needs to be removed from the radioactive elements.Biological corpses are then uniformly concentrated for decomposition by a large number of decomposers or pollution-free incineration. To achieve sustainable development waste needs to be classified.With the efforts of environmental teams and technological forces the pollution problem in the ocean has been almost solved, leaving only the most challenging radiation problem unresolved.

Experts are still studying day by day.They isolated microbial communities from seawater samples and tested step by step which microbial community had the strongest degradation ability.The strongest degrading microbial community was extracted from PAC Ocean seawater samples as the mother material. Then select the bacterial communities with strong degradation of various radioactive nuclides, extract their genes and mix them in the bacterial community as the matrix.Through a series of experimental comparisons the super bacteria with the strongest degradation ability were found.

The expert team shared this surprising news with the Environmental Rescue Team and the Director of the General Administration of Environment.All of them were very happy to hear this news and immediately came to the research institute.Under everyone's gaze the experts first tested the radiation intensity of seawater samples and then tested the radiation intensity after placing super bacteria in seawater samples for two hours.There is a significant change in radiation intensity and a decrease in the content of various radioactive elements which also proves that the developed super bacteria can be put into use.The result sent them into raptures.Following instructions from experts and the Director of the General Administration of the Environment, the Environmental Rescue Team has deployed super bacteria on a large scale to degrade radioactive nuclides in the ocean.Through their unremitting efforts the experts' plan has been successfully implemented and all oceans have been invested with super bacteria.

Time passed quickly and finally arrived at the end of three months. During these three months the staff of the Oceanic Administration conducted daily radiation intensity tests on the ocean, and the results were presented to experts and members of the environmental rescue team every day.In the end, within three months of the release of super bacteria the radiation intensity in the ocean meets normal standards and will not cause harm to human health. Meanwhile, on account of the environmental rescue team's previous efforts to control marine pollution, the ocean is slowly returning to its previous blue color. The Director of the General Administration of Environment has officially released a video announcing that the radiation intensity in the sea has decreased to normal standards, and everyone can go to the sea to visit. The next morning the Victory family happily took their packed bags and embarked on a journey to the sea.

Through everyone's concerted efforts the sea has gradually transformed from being filled with corpses of marine organisms floating everywhere in the past to becoming beautiful and healthy today.When Victory arrived at the beach a magnificent scene unfolded in front of him. The blue sea extends to the sky blending with it like a canvas of nature. Without the pollution and turbidity of the past the color of the seawater is clearer and brighter.The beach was covered in golden sunlight, and soft sand particles gently rubbed against people’s feet, giving them a warm and comfortable feeling.The distant waves churned and rushed forward, splashing a pure white spray as if playing a joyful movement.Victory’s family eagerly took off their shoes and socks and stepped barefoot into the sea.The cool seawater came towards them, gently stroking their toes, bringing a hint of coolness.The shoal of fish is swimming under the sea while sea turtles are swimming leisurely.With the protection of everyone, the ecosystem of the sea is gradually returning to health.

Meanwhile,Victory and his family happily tried various water sports. They rented a small boat.With the gentle swaying of the small boat they rowed away from the shore.The sunlight shines through the ripples on the sea surface, creating layers of ripples like a dynamic painting. Family members were laughing and enjoying the joy of intimate contact with the sea on the ship.Laughter and joy floated in the sea breeze. Also happy smiles appeared on everyone's faces. In the evening the afterglow of the sunset fell on the sea, and the sea shone with a golden radiance.Different families are sitting on the beach holding hands and quietly enjoying the beautiful scenery.They felt the breadth and comfort of the sea as well as the warmth and intimacy between their families.

The sea is no longer a tombstone for wandering, but a paradise for humanity and a beautiful world for fish.It is gradually recovering, improving the environment in which people live.Mother Earth, wearing a “sapphire”, is gently nurturing her “children” with love.
